Who We Are

We are a community of lawyers, activists, and researchers who believe the law can be a powerful tool in breaking the cycle of marginalization and advancing social justice.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide and effective voice for and support to rural communities, particularly those who are disadvantaged.

Our Values

Social Justice

Promoting fairness, equality and equity of opportunity and access, challenging discrimination (in all its forms) and valuing diversity.

Self Determination

Recognising that every community has the right to determine its own needs and have these needs recognised, raising people’s awareness of the choices open to them, empowering communities to take action and valuing the concerns or issues that the community identify.

Working and Learning Together

Collective working, ensuring all views are heard, listening, sharing, respect and fairness, showing that working together can achieve more.

Sustainable Communities

Keeping the activity going, investing in individuals and groups to keep initiatives going long term, empowering and leaving skills in communities whilst making and maintaining links to the wider society.

Participation

Ensuring that everyone has the right to fully participate in the decision-making processes that affect their lives, increasing access to do so, by removing barriers and creating opportunities to influence/take part.

Reflective Practice

Encouraging time out to review ways of working, learning from experience and successes, sharing learning and responding to change.
